Frequently Asked Questions

What's First?
The first step towards receiving services from ATS is to set up an appointment for an intake interview. You can do this by calling our office at 242-4673. You will be provided with an appointment, usually scheduled within the 3-5 days. It's normal to feel nervous taking this step, but our staff will help put you at ease. For your first visit plan to come 15 minutes early. You will be given some short forms to read and asked to complete some initial paperwork. During the appointment your intake counselor will come to a better understanding of your concerns and how ATS may be of most help to you.

Can I trust that counseling will be confidential?
We are ethically committed to confidentiality and federal/state laws require it. This means that even your attendance in counseling is kept private and confidential. The law states that there are four exceptions to this general rule: a) you may request (by means of a signed release) that your counselor may reveal information to other individuals or agencies of your choice; b) in instances where there is imminent danger of serious harm to yourself or others, a counselor may reveal that information to prevent harm; c) in cases involving physical and/or sexual abuse of children or endangered adults, the counselor must report such abuse; and (d) where otherwise requested by subpoena or mandated by court order or state/federal law.

Who would be my counselor?
After the intake, you will be assigned to one of our counselors or rehabilitation specialists or the appropriate referral will be made.

How long do I need to wait until I can see a counselor?
ATS is fully committed to schedule you with a counselor as soon as possible. Generally your first appointment is scheduled within one week.
